The Umbrella Academy

Netflix is hoping that your next great binge obsession will be ‘The Umbrella Academy’. This supernatural series, set to drop Feb. 15th, is quite different from Charles Xavier’s mutant Academy.

” On the same day in October 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. ”

From there things get a bit hairy. Six of the kids with super powers are adopted by a British speaking dude and are trained to save the world one day. Obviously, in the words of Spider-man with great power comes great responsibility. These kids on the other hand are willing to let the world burn, literally.

This version of the X-men is a lot more realistic than the real McCoy. You would expect a bunch of hormonal, immature teenagers to be more distracted about everything else other than saving the world.

The Umbrella Academy is an adaptation of the comic book series from Dark Horse Comics starring Ellen Paige and Aiden Gallagher. With the world set to come to an end can our unlikely heroes pull themselves together in time to save the world?

This series looks awesome! With less than a week before this series is set to drop, the creators Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá are quite pleased with the creative freedom Netflix has afforded them.

What’s not to love about this series? We’ve got a talking monkey, Mary J. Blige, Ellen Paige and a group of kids with super powers. This is basically a slam dunk for Netflix.
