If you’ve been living under a rock lately then you missed both the Netflix and Hulu documentaries about the infamous 2017 Fyre Festival Fiasco. In it, con man Billy McFarland and Ja Rule tricked hundreds of rich kids into paying for a once in a lifetime music festival experience in the Bahamas that never happened and ended up looking more like a lord of the flies saga. The tragedy of a bunch of millennial kids being duped out of their money landed Billy McFarland in Jail and spawned a social meme sensation Andy!

Of Course the King of satire, Seth Rogen (writer of hits like ‘Superbad’ and ‘The Interview’) along with the comedic stylings of The Lonely Island are attempting to bring the debacle to the big screen. For the uninformed, Lonely Island is a parody Hip Hop group consisting of Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, with special hits “I’m On A Boat”, “Jizz In My Pants” and “Dick In A Box” ft. Justin Timberlake. Lonely Island specialize in LOL comedy.

In an interview with the Daily Beast Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone spilled the beans on the project :

“Oh yeah,” he says, grinning. “I don’t want to divulge all the details but we’re figuring it out right now. You’ve seen the docs, right? It’s crazy. This is something that Akiva and Seth cooked up, and we’re figuring it all out right now.”

This movie is already being booked as comedy gold due to the epic Seth Rogen, Lonely Island collabo. On it’s own the actual Fyre festival was an instant viral sensation twice. The first time when hundreds of social media influencers like Kendal Jenner and Bella Hadid were hired to promote the festival. Then again after the ill fated disaster turned into a real life Castaway & Survivor reshoot.

The thought of paying thousands of dollars to sleep in disaster relief tents while being forced to survive on grill cheese sandwiches, immediately made these money millennials the laughing stock of the internet.

We are positive Seth Rogen and crew can produce an epic comedy out of this true life tragedy. The socials are already calling for 50 cent to play Ja Rule, to stoke their ongoing feud.  However, the real question everyone wants to know is is who is going to play Andy and how did he really get that water cleared through customs?

Taccone teased that Andy may even show up in the movie. Andy King became a viral sensation after suggesting that he was almost forced to “take one for the team” by sucking a customs officer’s dick. The hilarious memes that ensued may lead to his own TV show. Potential show names in the works include “How Low Would You Go?” and “This dick ain’t gonna suck itself!”.

With the proverbial shoe now being on the other foot Andy has now been offered to sell water products. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Andy stated “I had three TV show offers this week, from notable networks,’ regarding his new opportunities. I guess you just can’t keep a good man down.

Asked to elaborate on the offers, Andy stated “Let’s just say it’s going to be a show about hosting crazy events—what it takes to make them happen,” adding “There will be cliff-hangers, and you’ll get to follow me around and see how I pull them off.”

Andy has since set the record straight on his reasons for opening up about the incident in a Netflix Interview. He claims that he had no Idea he was trending after the show aired and would just like to use his new found fame to help the real victims of the Fyre festival, the Bahamian workers that never got paid.

MEME immortalized

Seth Rogen and The Lonley Island boys have previously stoked the fires tweeting about the project being in the works. We will keep our eyes peeled for this one.
